Built on the Roman fort of Castra Regina, Regensburg was one of the most populated cities in Germany during the Middle Ages. Today, it is the fourth most populated city in Bavaria and its city center is an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Top of the world
Tucked away in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps the Neuschwanstein Castle is one of the most visited attractions in Germany. It was commissioned by King Ludwig II of Bavaria who only got to live there for 172 days before he died. It served as the inspiration for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty castle.
The fairytale castle
Very close to Neuschwanstein, lies the Hohenschwangau Castle. This was the childhood residence of King Ludwig II of Bavaria.

Very close to the Austrian border, this 700 m long gorge was created by the Partnach River and can reach up to 80 m of depth.

This is third largest city in Bavaria with approximately 300,000 inhabitants.

Located in Augsburg and founded in 1516, this is the world’s oldest public housing complex still in use where the elderly and low-income residents of the city could be housed. It is, essentially, a small walled city within the city. The rent was, and still is, 80 cents a year.

Known as the “Bavarian Sea,”, this is the largest lake in Bavaria. Its water is used in the production of the Chiemseer beer.
